Academic Diplomacy in Action: Delegation from the Republic of Estonia Visits TNTU

On August 27, Ivan Puluj Ternopil National Technical University welcomed an official delegation from the Republic of Estonia, representing the city of Viljandi.

The delegation included distinguished figures of political and public life: Helmen Kütt – Chair of the Viljandi City Council, Member of the Riigikogu; Helir-Valdor Seeder – City Council Member, Member of the Riigikogu; Ando Kiviberg – former Mayor of Viljandi, Member of the Riigikogu; Tõnu Juul – City Council Member.

During the meeting with the University administration, represented by Rector Mykola Mytnyk, Deputy Chair of the Supervisory Board of the University and Member of the Parliament of Ukraine Volodymyr Hevko, First Vice-Rector Oleh Liashuk, Vice-Rector for International Cooperation Olena Sorokivska, and Rector’s Assistant Mykhailo Blavitskyi, the parties discussed key directions of Ukrainian-Estonian cooperation. Particular attention was given to the prospects for implementing joint long-term educational and research projects and programs.

The guests were introduced to the University’s activities and visited the Ivan Puluj Museum, where they learned about the life path, scientific legacy, and contribution of this prominent Ukrainian scholar to world science.

A special part of the program included a visit to Building No. 7, which had been damaged as a result of a hostile attack. The delegation witnessed first-hand the scale of destruction. The guests commended the resilience of the University community and emphasized the importance of international support in restoring Ukraine’s educational infrastructure.

The visit of the Viljandi delegation marked another important step in strengthening Ukrainian-Estonian relations and opened new opportunities for cooperation in education, research, and culture.
