On September 23, representatives of cultural, scientific and business circles of Croatia and Ukraine visited TNTU as part of the “Days of Croatia in Ternopil”. The participants gathered at the round table “Challenges and opportunities for functional international cooperation of the regions”.
The Croatian side was represented by: Marin Lerga – Head of public organization “Ukrainian-Croatian Cooperation” White Croatia “(Ukraine) and” Croatian-Ukrainian-Polish Cooperation “White Croatia” (Croatia); Ante Bralic – Professor at the Department of History at Zadar University; mechanical engineer, director of Zadar bakery; Josip Jouvela – master of tourism, owner of Jouvela company; Dushko Kralev – physicist engineer, representative of the union of scientific and technical intelligentsia in Zadar; Yasminka Kuchina – head of cultural and artistic association NEVIJANA (ostriv Pasman) and a group KLAPA UZORITA (m. Sukosan).
The organizing committee and honorary guests from the Ukrainian side were: Rector of Ternopil Ivan Puluj National Technical University, Corresponding Member of NAS of Ukraine, Honored Figure of Science and Technology, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Petro Yasniy; Vice-Rector for Economics and Development of Ternopil Ivan Puluj National Technical University, Associate Professor of the Department of Innovation and Services Management, Doctor of Economics Roman Sherstyuk, Assistant Rector of International Affairs, Ternopil Ivan Pului National Technical University Mikhail Blavitsky; Olena Dudar, Head of the Department of International Cooperation, Ternopil Ivan Puluj National Technical University; Oksana Garmatiuk, Head of the Department of Youth Affairs and Public Relations of Ternopil Ivan Puluj National Technical University; the secretary of Ternopil City Council, Victor Shumada; Head of the Strategic Development Department in Ternopil, Yuriy Deineka; Head of the Department of International Cooperation and Fundraising of Ternopil Regional State Administration, Oksana Kachurovska; director of the architectural firm SHEREMETA Architect Group, Member of the Board of the Regional Organization of the National Union of Architects of Ukraine in Lviv, Mykola Sheremeta; Director of Trading House “Integral” Olga Kolos; the head of the art association “Koza” Oleg Makogin; Professor of the Department of the Ternopil Volodymyr Hnatiuk National Pedagogical University, Dr.h.s.. During the greetings of the guests, the Rector of the University Petro Yasniy emphasized that there is a huge potential for developing of mutually beneficial cooperation in political, economic, social and cultural aspect between two countries.
“I hope that this format of the meeting will improve the quality, effectiveness of cultural, educational and research activities of both parties. It will be interesting for our university and students to develop cooperation with Universities of Croatia on double diploma programs, I hope that the cooperation at the regional level will be highly effective and will bring fruitful results”, – said Petro Yasniy.
Head of public organization “Ukrainian -Croatian Cooperation”White Croatia” Marin Lerga noted the importance of many social projects that have been implemented over the last six years. Also he shared plans about establishing closer contacts with the Ternopil Ivan Pului National Technical University and the city in general. This will allow the establishment of a Croatian Cultural and Information Center, based on the University, as long as similar Center already works in Lviv.The parties confirmed the importance of fruitful dialogue between Ukraine and Croatia by signing Memorandum of Understanding between the public organization “Ukrainian-Croatian Cooperation” White Croatia “and the the Ternopil Ivan Pului National Technical University.
Businessmen and representatives of the united territorial communities presented their experiences, and Professor of the University of Zadar Ante Bralic gave a lecture on the war in Croatia and Ukraine, outlining the similarity of military conflicts, drawing on information from Croatian and Ukrainian media.
The music perfomance of “KLAPA UZORITA” band from Sukosan and University student Adriana Garmatiuk added the coloring to the meeting.
