March 18-22, within the framework of the “ PIONEER Alliance ” European University Alliance, where Ternopil Ivan Puluj National Technical University is an associate partner (coordinated by Dr. Sc., Prof. Tetiana VITENKO), Nataliia MARYNENKO, Professor of the Department of Economics and Finance, participated in the 5th European Hackathon as a mentor and trainer.
The event, organized by Gustave Eiffel University (Paris, France), brought together the intellectual elite of European students — nearly 50 Master’s students from leading higher education institutions in France, Italy, Germany, Portugal, Slovakia, and Finland.
Eight multidisciplinary teams worked on finding innovative solutions to a pressing modern challenge: “What infrastructures and services are needed to meet mobility needs in low-density areas?” The concept of the hackathon was built on the synergy of various disciplines, ranging from economics and entrepreneurship to sociology, psychology, and cutting-edge solutions in IT, engineering, and sustainable development. The event was preceded by an intensive series of preparatory online meetings with each individual team.
The solutions developed by the teams covered flow and transport management, supply chain optimization, spatial localization of logistics hubs, and the design of specialized digital applications.
The presentation and defense of these innovative solutions took place at the Ministry for the Ecological Transition, Territorial Cohesion, Transport, Cities and Housing of France, which sponsored the event through the Infrastructure Financing Agency. Notably, for the first time in the history of the hackathon, which has been held since 2021, the distinguished jury declared two teams as winners simultaneously.
We express our sincere gratitude to Gustave Eiffel University for the invitation and the high level of event organization, which contributes to strengthening international academic ties and integrating TNTU into the European Higher Education Area.
