Ternopil Ivan Puluj National Technical University

Ternopil Ivan Puluj National Technical University has entered the international “HE Higher Education Ranking 2026.” Our university ranked 107th among 507 universities worldwide and secured a spot among the top 8 higher education institutions in Ukraine.

The HE Higher Education Ranking is an independent international evaluation system that analyzes universities as holistic institutions. The ranking focuses on a comprehensive study of the actual functioning of higher education institutions, looking beyond mere reputation or isolated indicators of research activity. Its methodology is based on an evidence-based approach and involves evaluation across 25 criteria covering the educational process, research, governance, digital infrastructure, academic integrity, inclusivity, and engagement with society and the labor market. Each criterion is further detailed by a system of performance indicators, allowing for an objective analysis of the university’s institutional development.

A distinctive feature of this ranking is its focus on the university’s internal processes and operating mechanisms. It assesses not only the outcomes but also how they are achieved, including the quality of governance, the organization of the educational environment, student support, the development of digital solutions, and the institution’s capacity to adapt to modern challenges.

Based on the evaluation results, TNTU scored 6,970 points, demonstrating the university’s balanced development across key areas of performance.

The university’s defined key strengths include the following dimensions:

• Distance learning support — 81 out of 100 points
• Material and technical facilities & resources — 75 points
• Language and linguistic scope — 71 points
• Information technologies — 67 points

The most successful development cluster for TNTU was identified as the “Digital Future” dimension, reflecting the university’s systematic efforts in the digitalization of its educational process and infrastructure.

Participation in this type of ranking serves as a strategic analysis tool, enabling TNTU to continuously improve its internal processes and enhance the quality of the educational environment in line with international standards.
